New Zealand Study Tour 2026 Day 9
日期: 01/04/2026
Today was an action-packed and enriching day for our young learners. In the morning, we visited McLaren Falls, where the children participated in a hands-on water quality assessment activity. They waded into the shallow stream and used nets and rock-disturbing techniques to collect and examine a variety of aquatic macroinvertebrates — small creatures whose presence serves as a natural indicator of water health.
In the afternoon, we journeyed to the world-famous Hobbiton Movie Set to explore The Shire — the meticulously crafted film location used during the production of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies. The visit offered the children a fascinating glimpse into the art of filmmaking and the creative world of J.R.R. Tolkien.
To round off an unforgettable day, we returned to McLaren Falls after sunset to witness the magical spectacle of glowworms — bioluminescent larvae that illuminate the darkness in a manner reminiscent of the enchanting Rivendell scenes depicted in The Lord of the Rings. It was a truly captivating experience that left a lasting impression on the children.
